“Entrepreneurship” is the act of creating and building a business, often a small business, with the aim of eventually turning it into a profitable venture, be it a brick-and mortar business, tech startup or launching a new product or service. It’s about building on your dreams and leading them in the direction you desire, being your own boss with no restricting time schedules but to be successful it requires dedication, hard work, long hours and countless sleepless nights.  Unfortunately, even with all of the above it can still be a treacherous venture and sadly many start-up businesses fail for various reasons, e.g. lack of capital, market demand, poor management decisions, economic slow downs, to name a few.

The people who create these businesses are called Entrepeneurs they are usually seen as innovators, sources of fresh ideas, goods, services, and business/or procedures, they need to be willing to go on a daring adventure unsure of the final destination.

Many people think you can’t get to $1 million in revenue in a one-person professional services business.

The following article about Chad Patschke has proves this statement wrong.

Patschke brought in just under $3 million in annual revenue—with about one-third of this in profit—in 2019 in his solo consultancy, Ethos Mechanical Integrity Solutions in the Austin, Texas area. It helps companies that handle hazardous chemicals avoid explosions and fires.

In doing so, he joined a small but growing group of entrepreneurs who are breaking $1 million in non employer businesses, firms with no payroll. The number of solo firms and partnerships hitting $1-$2.49 million in revenue in 2017 rose to 36,984—up 38% since 2011, the U.S. Census Bureau found.

The small business attitude adjustment

COVID-19 has turned the worlds of small businesses upside down. So much so, that even before lockdown commenced, hotels and bars were seeing revenue drops of 50-60%. Despite plans to ease lockdown measures and restart the economy, it will be a long time before small businesses are able to return to their known ‘normal’. Social distancing is here to stay for the foreseeable future, completely reshaping the way that shops, cafes, salons and many others operate. We…

No matter how successful of an entrepreneur you are, there's always going to be a voice in your head that says I can't do it. These thoughts are something I refer to as "head trash" with my clients.

Here's an example of a scenario when this voice seriously affected one of my clients.  She was nervous because she was about to give a …

Like most long-standing professional sports leagues, the NFL hasn’t exactly been a model of inclusion or equality over the years. From 1934-'46, Black players weren’t even allowed on the field. And among the league’s more…
